Summary/Abstract: The study explores several significant features and dimensions of the bilateral relations of People’s Republic of China and Taiwan. The author presents both the power status of the two actors of the international arena and their major strategic and economic interests. The evolution of the bilateral relations, clearly connected to major events and trends in the rest of the world, is presented with many details. The final lines show us that the author is convinced that the era of overheated conflicts and tensions will be more and more replaced by increasingly pragmatic cooperation of mainland China and Taiwan.
