Summary/Abstract: The present paper deals with the challenging European integration of the Western Balkan states, underlying the key problems faced by both EU and Balkan states. EU strategy, based on the Stabilization and Association Process, adapted to the specific problems of the region but the credibility of the European promise must be kept even if the EU goes through institutional reforms. Western Balkan region is on the path to EU integration but its progress depends on how these states tackle the implementation of key reforms and how their decision –makers understand to propose and implement own solution to their own problems. The advancement of the whole region is dependent on the solving the Kosovo status and the fulfillment of the statehood of Bosnia-Herzegovina, two processes where the EU and international community have their huge contribution.
