Summary/Abstract: In this article I am providing a conceptual and historical overview of the Democratic oversight of the intelligence system in Romania, after the collapse of the Communist regime and its political police system. The main results of my research show that the reform process of the intelligence system was mostly successful but the Democratic oversight is still problematic, especially the legislative and judicial oversight over the intelligence agencies.
