Summary/Abstract: Purpose – Identification and evaluation of investment activity of newly established enterprises in Poland. Design/methodology/approach – We analyzed the percentage of newly established enterprises carrying out investment activities according to selected criteria: a form of business, employment and operations (manufacturing, construction, trade, hotels and restaurants, transport, financial intermediation, real estate and business, education, health care, other services). The analysis of the intensity changes in time phenomena was made using momentum indicators. Findings – Investment activity of newly established enterprises have been increased since Polish accession to the EU. Greater willingness to invest is characterized by legal persons than natural persons. Since 2009, investment activity in companies in which only the owner worked and his family declined. The level of investment activity varied depending on the industry in which the start-up companies operate. Originality/value – The high share of investment activity exists in units engaged in property management, and low in businesses related to trade. The direction of changes in investment activity was varied in sectors. In the audited period, the percentage of newly established enterprises’ investment activity in construction, industry, education, and slightly in real estate and trade increased, but declined in the hotel industry, other activities, transport, financial intermediation and health. The most active companies were coming from the construction industry. Enterprises from “other services” limited investment activity.
