Summary/Abstract: In order to increase the competitiveness and flexibility of organizations, large companies establish new subsidiaries for exploring the start-up market and cooperating with them. The primary aim of such an operation is a selection of small and innovative enterprises in order to develop cooperation for innovation. The article is an attempt at synthetic presentation of the concept of corporate venture capital (CVC) and how they work. Authors attempt to define CVC and compare it to venture capital funds. Paper describe the potential benefits of cooperation between start-up and CVC companies. Authors of the article also presented the characteristics of CVC operations in Poland.
