Summary/Abstract: The article discusses international European Union Socrates/Grundtvig adult education projects, project designing methodological foundations, qualitative and quantitative project aspects. Grundtvig project content is compared to directions and priorities of Lithuanian education presented in Strategic Guidelines for the Development of Lithuanian Education in 2003-2012 (“Guidelines”). It has been found out that both “Guidelines” and Grundtvig adult education projects are based on common values. The priority of social education policy, enhancement of the processes of education innovation dynamics, search for new forms of educational expression in the context of lifelong learning are the main features characteristic to adult education in Lithuania and the European Union.
