Summary/Abstract: What is the relationship of politics and culture today? What is their role in the making of identity? What is the interrelationship of nationalism and cultural identity? Finally, does culture contain something very specific which connect it with war!? All these questions loom larger than life when detecting the position of culture in today’s world, which we could situate in the place of its important characteristics as – ideology. My focus of attention will be very local, i. e. regional. The focal point will be what during the “leaden Nineties” Dubravka Ugrešić characterized as Culture of Lies, and most of the space I will devote to just one apparently blasphemous assertion from the title of a book by Ugo Vlaisavljević published several years ago: War as the Greatest Cultural Event.
