Summary/Abstract: Presented is a unique new teaching which places this Arab philosopher in the realm of post-medieval thought. The author examines Ibn-Khaldun’s methodolog and how it secures the unity of his doctrine. In analysing the Muqaddimah, Ibn-Khaldun’s main work, the author starts from the „core“ of its categorial system, demonstrating the way in which the new doctrine was elaborated in a coherent unity. Examples are given to illustrate the functioning of the main methodological principles. As the modern terminology turned out to be confusing, the author presents his own renderings of Ibn-Khaldun’s expressions and notions. It is affirmed that the most important component of his teaching, the methodology, has no analogon in the Western thought. The paper is concluded by the remark that the procedures in finding the unity of contradictions or the true relation between the whole and its parts are different and even incompatible in Muslim-Arab and Western cultures.
