Summary/Abstract: The article postulates, referring to the classical doctrine of empiricism, that mathematics is a special kind of language that, like other natural languages, evolved in a particular context. It developed in the physicists and mathematicians’ environment, under pressures to be more and more useful to describe dead phenomena and material objects. Therefore, to the extent subjects of studies in natural science and humanities differ from each other, the language of mathematics can be cumbersome for economists.
