THEORETICAL AND POLITICAL BACKGROUND FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A GUIDANCE SYSTEM IN LITHUANIA

Summary/Abstract: The present article discusses guidance phenomena in respect of attributed systematic characteristics. The main aim of the article is to review and analyse research work and policy documents in the field of guidance in order to highlight the theoretical and political background for the development of a guidance system in Lithuania. The article consists of three parts: the first addressing the issue of different concepts of guidance, the second makes a review of the research work by scientists in Lithuania in the field of guidance and the related topics, the third part gives the relevant perspective of the main tendencies in the guidance policy on European Union and national levels as well as the implementation of the policy in various guidance settings.
