Summary/Abstract: Local government has a multidimensional face. It is an area in which political, social, economic, organizational and management elements permeate. Therefore, there are contradictions between them in varying degrees and intensity leading to the creation of many dysfunctions and disharmony. The policy of local government authorities should aim at their coordination in order to ensure convergence with the general public interest of the residents of the local government. The content of the considerations undertaken in the article is an attempt to outline and explain the mechanism of mutual relations between the political factor and the management factor in the local government. The main line of the analysis is to outline the conditions affecting the level of economic efficiency in the local government structures. On this basis, the main directions of improving the functioning of the local government as a whole have been specified.
