Summary/Abstract: The article presents the Hungarian monuments and other objects in Southern Slovakia associated with the First and Second World Wars. It also deals with objects devoted to the memory of events related to the two world wars (Republic of Soviets, Slovak national uprising, the deportation of civilians to forced labour camps in the Soviet Union, expulsions and the so-called Slovak– Hungarian population exchange), and with the graves and funeral monuments of war victims found in cemeteries, the land around settlements or in public places. The article also examines how changes of ruling powers and the political and social system influenced the erection of memorial signs.
