Summary/Abstract: The twelve known to the authors coins of Ilias I (1432-1444) found in Low Dnieper region feature some images which are very unusual for Moldavian coinage, particularly, two united horseshoes and a riding horseman. A study of these images suggested parallels among coin issues of Polish and Lithuanian rulers. According to some written accounts, Ilias I used to possess the neighboring Little Podolje for some time, which is where he appears to have issued his iconographically untypical coins.
