Summary/Abstract: During 2002 a drainage channel was planned along the dam on the right bank of the Kettős-Körös river flowing across the eastern outskirts of Békés in Southeastern Hungary. Since previous surveys had shown that earth moving would affect a registered archaeological site, preventive excavations were carried out between July and October 2002. The site known as Békés-Povádzug has yielded archaeological finds since 1885. It was Gyula Farkas, a pharmacist from Békés, who first reported prehistoric finds from this site in 1885.4 In 1930, János Banner attributed this site to the Tisza Culture, wrote the first summary on its research history and published it in the technical literature.
