Summary/Abstract: The “structure” on which the present study was built is the genealogical chart of the great boyars of Moldavia from the time of Stephen the Great, published in 2010 by the second author and enriched in the present paper. The authors use for genealogical purposes the sigillographic sources preserved on the external documents of the Moldavian rulers, from the end of the 14th century until the beginning of the 16th (documents with an anniversary character, addressed to the kings of Poland and preserved in the Archiwum Główne Akt Dawnych from Warsaw), whose seals were recently deciphered and reproduced by the Ukrainian researcher Oleg Odnorojenko. Some of the connections which were revealed could help filling up some “gaps” from the documentary sources, while others proved false leads. Overall the authors argue that making use of the content of the boyars’ seals is indispensible for a better knowledge of the history of our former ruling class.
