Summary/Abstract: Weaker dynamics of demographic processes have been recorded in Poland in recent years. In the research procedure, an attempt was made to identify the changes in fertility indices in Polish cities of 100 thousand and more inhabitants, classified according to regions in the years 1990-2008, i.e. during the system transformation period. Demographic Yearbooks for the individual years published by the Central Statistical Office constituted the source of information. The estimated general and group fertility indices as well as total fertility indices were used in the analysis. As a result of the research procedure, a decrease in the indices selected for the analysis was observed and changes in the fertility pattern according to women’s age were found in the analyzed cities.
