Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the issue of alcohol abuse among people working in archaeology. It is a short version of a paper to get a master’s degree, which was written at the School of Social Work by the National University «Kyiv Mohyla Academy» in 2001. A sociological research was conducted with the help of quantitative methods, such as screening questionnaire, and qualitative methods, such as unstructured interview. The research demonstrated, that 71% of respondents can face a problem of alcohol abuse. The paper also describes the reasons which cause this problem, and the way the traditions of alcohol taking are handed over. The author determined peculiarities of the abuse development. Here is also a description of specific features of each stage of the disease. In appendix to the article you can find a questionnaire used for the research.
