Summary/Abstract: In Russian religious songs Blessed Virgin is always near her son. She is an agile and warm-hearted protector of people. Man has three mothers: Mother of God, archaic Russian “mother-earth” and man’s mother who gave birth to him. The characteristic comparison of folk-songs and profound symbols is remarkable.
