Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the controversial problem of the prototypic meaning of ingressives. Until the points of intersection between the meaning of verbs have been ascertained, it is impossible to understand the issues of polysemy and homonymy. In the change of the meaning of the verbs discussed in this study, Hegel’s principle of “keeping through abolition” manifests itself: some aspects of the meaning disappear, others remain.The unchanged aspects represent the general preserving potential that prevents disintegration of a verb into as many homonyms as many meanings are in this verb.
