Summary/Abstract: Sophistic elaboration of the reliefs of the brass hunting jug from Budakalász and the way of surfacing shows strong connections with Late Antique toreutics. Highly artistic, rich silver vessels always influenced shapes, figural or ornamental decoration of pieces made of less valuable material (bronze, brass, glass, clay). That is why we can find the place of the Budakalász jug (Fig. 1) among Late Antique forms only if we compare it with the forms of the Late Antique silver vessels coming from the 3rd–7th centuries.
