Animal Bones from the Neolithic (Szakálhát) Levels at Uivar (Timiş County)

Summary/Abstract: In the present study we deal with 3,528 fragments, unearthed from the Szakálhát habitation. Ofthe 3,528 bones collected from the surfaces S. I-III, circa 1,389 fragments originate in dwelling structures andanother 2,139 fragments in the culture layer (no feature). The first part of the article details the faunal samplesfrom the building stages (5, 4a, 3c, 3d) and cultural layer. The metric evaluations and slaughter profiles arepresented in the second part of the study. In conclusion, we present the results of the Chi2 test on the samplesfrom the three phases of neolithic habitation (Szakálhát, Vinča C1, C2), we discuss the percentage changes oftaxa and their significance in the husbandry of these phases.
