Summary/Abstract: Stefka Mihaylova’s essay Who owns performance? Performed critique as feminist strategy was translated for our current issue by Annamária Codău. Mihaylova’s analysis shows us – through a performance by Carolee Schneemann, as well as through the actions of Guerilla Girls – how non-written forms of criticism influence mainstream theatrical discourse. The author claims that both in criticism as well as in the creation of performances, a so-called masculine bias can be observed, which results in the exclusion of women’s work from the cannon and their restriction to the periphery.
