Summary/Abstract: The present study analyzes the 50 cloisonné brooches discovered in Banat. 80% of them werefound in Sarmatian features and fewer items in municipium Tibiscum. The number of discoveries from theBarbaricum is significant, as such brooches were fashionable as part of the female Sarmatian costume from theancient Banat between the end of the second century A.D. and the middle of the third century A.D. and fell out offashion around 250/270 A.D. In the Sarmatian environment all such items were Roman imports, brought fromthe western part of the Empire (thus not from Dacia), probably transported by Pannonian merchants.
