Summary/Abstract: The surveys of the royal real properties in Pomeranian and The Great Poland voivodeships from 1564 - to 1565 includes descriptions of fortress. Three person committee evaluated the state of particular castles. Some of them were in a bad state, especially in Człuchów and Gniew. Fortress in Tuchola, Świeć, Grudziądz, Brodnica, and Bratian had been repaired just before survey was completed. The fortresses, which previously had belonged to The Teutonic Order, were repaired when survey was undertaken. Castles in The Great Poland had been built during the reign of Casimir the Great and serious repairs were necessary. Castles in Brzesko (Brrześć ?) and Inowrocław Voivodeships were in better state than the castles at the Silesian border. The amount of firearms was greater in the southern part of Poland than northern one. Manpower of garrisons was insufficient in the whole country. The same was in the case of supplies. Most of the fortifications were out of date.
