The use of IT tools to improve the efficiency of warehouse management

Summary/Abstract: The scope of this article is to show the potential which lies in the modern technological solutions and to have a look on new methods to increase the efficiency of storage. The current economic situation forces the managers to look for newer solutions to increase customer satisfaction. Warehousing is an integral part of the supply chain, which means that it affects the formation of additional costs and build customer confidence in the product. Cost reduction and elimination of errors is possible thanks to computerization magazines. Supervision of a commodity, the complete identification of workers, the history of performed operations are just some of the advantages offered by the computerization of the warehouse. Standardization of recording information in the form of bar codes, which are slowly being replaced by RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), has consequences in cost savings and raises the company’s competitiveness in the market. Independently of what form of the information technology company chooses, whether buying a new system, or machine-specific, it is essential to choose the direction of development that will increase warehouse efficiency and reduce costs.
