Development of information society as a factor of economic growth in Western Pomeranian Province

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to show the impact which has building and investing in information society on an economic and social development in Western Pomerania. The first part of this paper provides an introduction to the history and essence of a new society model. Second part shows the state of information society in Western Pomerania (including both positive and negative trends). It also indicates opportunities for the local government and citizens connected with building an information society. At the end author presents actions of city of Koszalin which the main aim is to provide permanent development of the information society in the city.
