Summary/Abstract: The debate on “(Rule of) Law and politics. a dispute between the government of the Republic of Poland and the European Commission” was supposed to bring the audience closer to the issue thathas been warming up emotions both in Poland and in the European Union since 2015. It dealt theproblem of reforming the Polish constitutional judiciary and common courts. In the couse of the debate, a lot of criticism about the Polish government was voiced, most often unsupported by factual arguments, which of course affected the quality of the whole meeting. There were more referencesto political sympathies and judgments of the current authorities than to an objective discussion onthe issue, important for Poles and Poland.
