Summary/Abstract: The site is located on the northern part of the Szécsényhills belonging to the Nógrád Basin, 3 km from the town Szécsény on a range of hill along the left side of the road leading to Nagylóc (Fig. 1). The excavation of the site became necessary due to the planned construction of a dam closing a valley; the work was continued under the direction of Virág Soós at Szécsény-Ültetés between 1979–1985. The rescue excavations extended over about one-tenth of the total area of the settlement, yielding rich material of the Zseliz Culture. A preliminary report on the results of the excavations was published in 1982 in the periodical Nógrád Megyei Múzeumok Évkönyve (Annual reports of the Nógrád County Museums). In this publication, Virág Soós mentioned fragments with anthropomorphic character and representation of human face, that came to light in considerable number in course of the excavation. The present study was born to present and render accessible these vessels with representation of human face for archaeological research.
