Summary/Abstract: Gated communities are rapidly increasing in our country because of globalization, neo-liberal economic policies, expanding new middle classes and their changing housing preferences. Gated communities which can be constructed quickly with emerging technologies to attract new owners/consumers through dicourses such as fear, security, richness of social facilities, more green spaces and more peaceful life. This study determines that socio-economic profiles, housing preferences and neighbourhood relations of the people who live in Akkent located in Ankara, Batıkent and Çakırlar province with literature and field research.
