Summary/Abstract: The communication and media sciences departments of the higher education in Hungary focus on the Hungarian press and media history, often just parts of it or its shorter periods instead of full history of the institutions. The national delimitation can be justified with linguistic considerations and partially with the history of society, but there are some deficiencies regarding the media’s universal rules. But for the teaching and in particular for measuring the student’s knowledge a comprehensive scientific literature is needed, which is a severe but well dissimulated weakness of the Hungarian higher education.
