Naming Tradition in the Vosika Family from Číhošť Parish During 1785–1885

Summary/Abstract: My paper is focused on naming in one stem of my family during the 19th century. The Vosika family lived in parish Číhošť in Bohemia. I have tried to analyse names of children in this family and in the whole parish in 1785–1885. We can observe that the most important factor of the choice of the first name was its popularity. Names of parents or godparents had less influence (with the exception of the last generation). Also dates (and festivals of saints) were not important when naming members of the Vosika family.
