Summary/Abstract: By the tenth century, when the early Russian culture was formed in the region, there had occurred significant changes in the economic activities of the population. A significant increase had been noticed in the degree of industrial development. Most developed were the iron industry and blacksmith’s work, jeweler’s work became more active, ceramics became almost an independent craft. Progress was also noticed in such industries as woodworking, masonry, bone carving, weaving, tanning and other industries. The article is in fact dedicated to a short review of archaeological records that tell about development of these industries.
