Summary/Abstract: The history of Hungarian television broadcasting in Romania begins in 1969 and can be divided in two major phases. The first one, ended in 1985 when the Hungarian program of the Romanian television was stopped, can be characterized by the exclusiveness of the public television. The second phase is defined not only by the Hungarian broadcasting resumed in January 1990, or the Hungarian programs of the later created regional public television studios, but by the variety and diversity of television channels from Hungary included in the cable companies’ offer, the small area televisions and production studios as well.
