Summary/Abstract: The essay presents certain dilemmas met by a documentary maker during the shooting of two documentaries connected to the Hurricane Katrina, that devastated New Orleans in 2005. It is also presenting the choices the filmmakers were forced to make while working on the films Tim’s Island(focusing on the presentation of the disaster) and The Sunken City (focusing on the process of rebuilding the city after the disaster. The key concept governing the choices made by the film makers is the concept of objectivity, analised through a set of different examples.
