The participatory approach in shaping city’s central spaces. A case study of the settlement of finnish houses in Warsaw

Summary/Abstract: The paper describes an example of participatory-based creation of the central area ofa large city, an area representing high economic and cultural values, namely the settlement ofFinnish houses in Warsaw. The functional-spatial changes observed in the housing estate since 2010are mainly carried out with the involvement of the community of inhabitants and non-governmental organizations. These activities constitute an interesting example of real participationin the Polish context, which goes beyond the most frequently observed facade forms. The activitiesthat hold the material of the historic housing estate are an interesting example of a creative reusephenomenon.
