Summary/Abstract: What methods were used by the socialist media in order to influence and control the (communist) attitudes and the collective consciousness? Who or what activities were labeled as “enemies” and what were the manifestation forms of the “enemy images”? Did the collective consciousness manipulation narrative / discourse and the techniques disappear in the transition period? What changes occur in the image of the Hungarian minority’s representatives in the Romanian written media in the 90s? The study deals with the quantitative and qualitative analysis of a regional daily newspaper’s articles during 15 years (1989-2004).
