Documentary pictures of 22–23 December, 1989 in the town of Székelyudvarhely – Odorheiu Secuiesc, Romania

Summary/Abstract: My text presents two sets of documentary photos taken in the fever of the Romanian revolution in 1989 at the town of Székelyudvarhely. Though neither of them was a professional journalist, both photographers (Ferenc Balázs and Károly Szabó) were strongly determined to capture the events of the streets, the typical moments of the upheaval, the genuine moments of joy and anger. Today these photos have an important documentation value, giving a local narrative of the events of the Romanian Revolution.
