Summary/Abstract: The station in Lapoş (Romania) is located in North-Eastern Muntenia near Buzău. It became known owing to excavations of Florea Mogosanu who dug there during many years (1959-1963, 1966). Complicated stratigraphic conditions revealed two cultural layers dated by the Upper Palaeolithic and Late Mesolithic. The digging covered 1,200 sq. m. The lowest layer yielded an expressive collection of flint object of Aurignacian type (tools of Rabot type, carenat and а museau scrapers, dihendral burins). The upper layer, dated by Tardenois, gave a representative collection of micro-lithic tools (trapezes, thumbnail and scrapers, backed bladelets, notched bladelets). In 1993-1999 the excavations on the station were resumed by the research group from the university “Wallachia” in Tirgoviste, led by professor Marin Cîrciumaru. Unfortunately, information about the results of these excavations is brief, and it does not allow one to have a complete picture of this site, neither it allows to review its cultural-chronological attribution.
