Summary/Abstract: The connection between faith and liturgy, which existed from the very beginning of the history of the Church, can be easily traced in the teaching of the Church Fathers. In fact, faith, theology and liturgy are tightly bound together and depend on each other. Thus, they cannot be interpreted separately. Liturgy is the “place” were faith is confessed. Liturgy makes faith alive and gives the power to testify about it. Liturgy itself is the instrument of finding faith and getting to know the doctrine of the Church. Mystagogical catechesis is the best proof of the reciprocal relation between doctrine, life, liturgical celebration and prayer. Patristic theology demonstrates that the connection between theology and liturgy is a natural and undisputed fact. Liturgy can be seen as the place where theology is born and worship, understood as the relationship between the human being and God, makes the human being a theologian. The ancient principle lex orandi – lex credendi proves its importance here. Liturgy as a locus theologicus becomes the instrument of getting to know and expressing faith and theology.
