Summary/Abstract: For more than two thousand years of the history of the Cucuteni-Trypillia cultural complex we can observe a dynamic picture of the formation and change of various local-chronological groups, which determine well-devepoped and sophisticated structure of this cultural complex. The emergence of Cucuteni culture marks the second stage of the transformation of the Precucuteni-Cucuteni-Trypillia cultural complex. The genetic link with the Precucuteni culture is not in doubt, however, the emergence of a new ceramic tradition in the form of painted ceramics can not be explained by the development of the technologies of the previous stage. Having examined in detail the structure of the cultural complex at a certain stage of its existence and its changes, primarily on the basis of a detailed analysis of ceramic traditions, we can try to restore the history of the transformation of related social structures.
