Summary/Abstract: The article is a report of the activities carried out since 2011 by artist Jaśmina Wójcik, along with co-workers, with the inhabitants of the Ursus district of Warsaw and former employees of a tractor factory placed there until recently. The author, using the cathegory of “democratic turn” proposed by the British researcher Cristina Flesher Fominaya, makes the report a starting point for reflecting on the relationship between cultural practices and the quality of democracy conceived in this case as the subjective self-determination of the local community. The text seeks to answer the question of how to act artistically in order to contribute to social activation, to amplification of voice of the local community and to the level of its self-government.
