Summary/Abstract: The following legal discussions on the system of assigning passports for trips to non-socialist countries were written by Budapest-born mathematician György Krassó who, for more than twelve years, has been trying in vain to obtain a "blue passport". The assignment of the "red" passport - for the CMEA countries - works in generally the same way, only in practice it is faster, at least for non-dissidents. Krassó himself has no passport any longer. In August, he had been deprived by Hungarian border police of his hitherto valid “red” passport when he crossed the Czechoslovak-Hungarian border near Komarno and had already entered czechoslovak territory. Krassó then reported the Hungarian border officials for "invading foreign territory." The procedure is running.
