Summary/Abstract: Concerned for the Christian identity of charity works of the Church, Caritas in Poland for years has conducted a very intensive religious-ethical formation program for its volunteers. Its aim is to awaken an awareness that faith in Christ is the most important and the strongest source of motivation for volunteer activities. Christ left an example for His followers how to love their neighbors. He took special care of sick, elderly, handicapped and poor. Volunteers follow the example of Christ. Their attitude expresses respect for others. They should be disinterested, kind, ready for dedication, discreet, humble. The principal motive of their service is the desire to fulfill the commandment of love, which Christ has left for His Church.
