Summary/Abstract: This article is an attempt to recall that it is impossible to fulfill the mission of evangelization in the modern world without the use of the social communication media and an indication of the role of diocesan radio stations in this work. Proclaiming Jesus Christ, Son of God, which is the center of the Church's kerygma, must be adapted to the current challenges of the present world. As faith comes from what is heard, the radio of the diocese can become an excellent way of proclaiming the Word of God. Although the Church teaches extensively on the use of the media in the modern world, diocesan radio stations in Poland – as a new means of pastoral influence – are still seeking their place in the Church and its mission. This paper presents a short history of the radio, which from the beginning of its existence has been connected with Gospel content; discusses the historical conditions in which Catholic radio broadcasting in Poland is taking shape and shows the richness of diocesan radio stations in the country. A summing up can be made by the words of John Paul II, quoted in the article, who stated that the Church today no longer has the dilemma whether to use the media, but rather faces the need to find a language that will give the proper strength to the Gospel message proclaimed by the social communication media.
