Summary/Abstract: The article presents the issue of the organization and activities of Third Order fraternities in the diocese of Łomża in 1918-1939. The most significant associations were, among others: Living Rosary, Guard of Honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Apostleship of Prayer, Christian Mothers’ Society and the Third Order. It was found, among other results of research, that participation in religious practices was a major center for the fight against all faults and sins and for the raising of the moral and cultural level of the inhabitants of this region and contributed greatly to remove the gap between religion and life. This relationship became apparent especially during World War II, when the heroic attitude of many thousands of people in the diocese demonstrated itself in many ways.
