Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to identify the stress forces that change the notion of intelligence under the influence of the antithetic paradigm of fragmentation of the international system through power transition and the process of globalization and the compression of geography through the liberalization of information on a scale never seen previously in human history. The age of dichotomy West – East, communism – capitalism, democracy – totalitarism, in which bipolarity coupled withM.A.D principle, created a world drawn into a metanarative which provided a higher degree of certainty and predictability, has ended. In the postmodernist world the breakdown of this metanarative and the gradual process of regionalization and multipolarization dilutes certainty and globalization gives birth to a series of asymmetries that together push the concept of intelligence towards new theoretical and practical boundaries.
