Summary/Abstract: Looking at Stanisław Fita’s historical literary output, one will not make a mistake of stating that Bolesław Prus was certainly the most important research area for the Professor. He was also a tool Fita used to study the nineteenth century. Considering the vast complex of themes evoked by Prus’sworks, he sensitized him to phenomena most important to the Polish culture and social life in the nineteenth and, perhaps, the twentieth century.
