The great fire of Wieruszów on 13 July 1878

Summary/Abstract: All sorts of people conglomerations in the Kigdom of Poland in XIX c. were harassed by fires. As a matter of fact, the reasons were varied, e.g. inflamable and crowded buildings and lack of organized fire protection. The fire on 13 July consumed 225 houses and damages were estimated on 70 thousand of troubles. Luckily the most victims of fire were insured. The Wieruszów Voluntary Fire-Brigade was founded in 1896.
