From Apostles to Bishops – Three Ways

Summary/Abstract: The author of this text traces the development of the ministry of leadership in the early Church, beginning from Jesus and the Apostles to the fully developed episcopate in the writings of St. Irenaeus. There are three ways of this development: the way of Jerusalem, the way of Antioch and the way of Rome. The first of them is connected with the authority of James (brother of the Lord), the second of them is connected with the authority of Paul and the third of them is connected with the authority of Peter.
