Summary/Abstract: The OECD has defined long-term care as „a cross-cutting“ policy issue that brings together a range of services for persons who are dependent on help with basic activities of daily living (ADLs) over an extended period of time. Elements of long term care include rehabilitation, basic medical services, home nursing, social care, housing and services such as transport, meals, occupational and empowerment activities, thus also including help with Instrumental activities of daily living. The existing system of long-term care in Republic of Macedonia encompasses services of social and health protection in the institutions and out of the institutions. They have been defined in the frames of the current law regulative for health and social protection. Long-term care is usually provided to persons with physical or mental disability, the frail elderly and particular groups that need support in conducting their daily life activities.
